The pokemon games are made on a tight schedule since we get them on a yearly basis. The games can't have a long development time like say a Dragon Quest game or a mainline Zelda because of the anime that has a 3 year schedule between generations. If you want the next Pokemon game to be as ambitious as BOTW or DQXI or even Xenoblade 2 then it's not going to happen because of the anime and the Pokemon Company forcing this 3 year cycle onto the development team.
