Maybe it will just be a slice of life anime filled with side stories. I wouldn't mind that

There is no plot, it's an episodic series with self-contained stories and very few two-parters or arcs. One episode they're in Galar, the next they're in Sinnoh, the next they're in Johto. They'll be all over the place at random.

Seeing Ash do the same exact shit in a new region for all eternity sounds stale as fuck.

Having a new co-lead character that travels with him between regions is the first interesting thing they’ve decided to do with the series in years.

They've said that Ash's goal is battling and that it is equal in importance to Go's goal. I'm guessing that they didn't just mean blasting off Team Rocket, but I wouldn't necessarily assume it's the Galar League, either.
