that's not how rng works, if it misses/disobeys 90% of the time, it's not breaking the game. trainer is incentivized to finally beat the gym legitimately

it's lazy because they could have done a number of other things, such as:
1. allow you to catch them, but you can't use them yet
2. make it so that pokemon that are too high don't appear until badges are obtained
3. adjust the way they disobey to be unusable (it's already pretty unbearable if you've ever tried to use a traded overleveled mon)

you're basically defending the scenario we know will exist, where shinies can appear that you literally can't catch. it would happen in double wild battles too and it's also stupid! things don't have to be like this

Restricting the player from catching mons is retarded in enough in previous games, primarily gsc where you can encounter up to nine types of pokemon before you can even get balls after backtracking from new bark to mr. pokemon's gaff and back. it's just such a pointless restriction and another example of nintendo being so fucking afraid to let the player go from their endless tutorials and shallow experience

If you find a high level shiny pokemon in the wild you can't catch it and you lost it forever thanks to GF retarded decision.

I was fine when they announced this would be a thing for the Wild Area, it makes sense there, but it's fucking dumb that you can't catch Pokemon that are a higher level than you anywhere. This has ALWAYS been an important part of every previous Pokemon game.

I can't remember if it was Emerald or Fire Red, but I remember catching a level 20 Pokemon just before my starter had even evolved and feeling awesome. SwSh would not allow that to happen.

it won't matter outside of the wild area. pokémon in routes will always be catchable when you get to them since you literally cannot progress without beating the gyms (and raising the level cap).

If you went way off the path and worked for it, you could grab stuff 20 levels overleveled before, nothing was ever stopping you. I'm pretty sure you could grab Zapdos in RBY with only three badges if you really wanted to jump through that many hoops to get there. Pokemon's exploration and choice has slowly devolved into linear corridors. This is the ultimate evolution of that, now they put the powerful Wild Area Pokemon right on your path to see, then tell you that you can't catch them. Even USUM let you grab the level 10 Salamence if you really wanted to cheese the game, doing this is just insulting.

If you can't catch them, it's a waste of time.
If you can battle them, then your team will be overleveled.
Whenever you are finally able to catch them, it encourages boring backtracking.
The whole system in SwSh is fucked and Gamefreak is retarded for not noticing this.

When I was a kid playing through Yellow version multiple times, I always had a Nidoking/Queen that was powerleveled to stomp everything into the group. I still had fun. It's why the Nidos are some of my favorite pokemon to this day.

If you're going into the wild area for the first time at around level 15 and running into things that are level 30, 10 turns of doing nothing might be plenty of time for those lower level enemy pokemon to do something to your overleveled catch.
