Feels like they don't want to cater to us anymore. They just want to make games for kids that have no expectations at all and can't remember more than 50 Pokemon. I bet that gf doesn't even play other companies video games.

All they want from older fans is to buy those stupid button down shirts.

GameFreak never made games to cater to older fans beyond giving Charizard another shiny new form to goad normalfags into buyin' it.
Pokemon has been, and always will be, primarily marketed and catered towards young children that barely know how to read, before we eventually reach a point where reading isn't necessary at all because the game plays itself and is fully voice acted.

It’s cool but not as an evolution to Meowth. Hell, I don’t think Meowth needed ANOTHER regional variant, but I could see it becoming a running gag where it gets a new variant every region because Gamefreak prefers meme/joke designs over anything serious now.

This game isn't meant for us oldfags. I've come to terms with that. At least I feel like GF is throwing us a bone with the QoL improvements for raising competitive Pokemon and hopping online to battle people. I guess that's a silver lining here...

There are a few minor new ones like the ability to use any number of vitamins and multiple items at once, but they don't make up for the stream of barren games we've gotten since X and Y.

I've worked in video games for a while now and even the shittiest, most money grubbing companies have a desire to balance older fans' needs with the needs of the core audience in intervals, like a graceful aging out. Even from a pure monetary value standpoint this is how it's always been.

The people in charge of Pokemon are a mess by comparison, there is no plan or thought in what they're doing, it's like watching an insane person. It reeks of the internal company being a shitshow and the developers having been shafted by those calling the shots.
