Unironically yes. They knew they were pandering to kids and GOfags and it shows. But they actually put more quality into that game than anything I've seen from Sword and Shield, which was stated as:

On a purely aesthetic level, yes. LGPE LOOKS miles better than SWSH, but it's even more stripped down than SWSH is.

Just like SWSH, it was less than the bear minimum, but I just let it pass and held out for SWSH. They said it'd be the games I wanted. Look how that turned out.

Oh, well. At least I haven't had to buy up for this shit since USUM.

Should've never have been criticized as it did by the fanbase. They literally said that this was for casuals and go fans to ease into the series. And they delivered.

There is nothing wrong with casual games. But it's fucked up to charge $60 for it, plus online and $50 Mew, and call it mainline.

Nobody would've cared about LGPE if it had been a $15 thingy on the eshop to catch Go players. But as it stands, it's promoted and charged as an AAA game, so it will judged as such.

People kept citing Masuda at me like it meant anything when I said it was a spinoff. I didn't mean it as an insult but it's legitimately a spinoff in all but name. It's why I didn't care either way about LGPE and why I do care that gen 8 turned out this way.

Yeah I can agree with this. Definitely not worth $60. It's scummy but part of my thinks that they charged it that much b/c they knew people (casuals) would buy it. See, I mostly heard the cost complaints from longtime fans. The local casuals and Go fans I knew really talked about the price being an issue simply b/c they don't know better. Those people haven't touched that game since March

I like the art direction for environments a lot more, it looks more painterly like the anime instead of just slapping a purple filter on a mismatched semirealistic style it and calling it a day.
The Go portions didn't feel as polished as Go itself, and it just felt wrong to not battle wild pokemon.

LGPE was great. It had all the QOL shit you'd ever want, and it got rid of the wild battle system which should've gone away 20 years ago.
The feature stripping didn't even bother me that much since their goal was to recreate the simplicity of RBY and they did that perfectly. It's one of my favorites in the series.
