>>41033096I remember someone had translated 5chan's opinions on the direction the series was going and one of their anons had stated something along the lines of "The more you love Pokemon, the more you hate Game Freak".
I think that perfectly sums up most people's feelings of the situation.
We want Pokemon to be good.
We want to see it improve with each installment.
For them to try new things, and STICK to the new things that work.
But at every turn Game Freak keeps dropping the ball, whether through laziness, being out of touch with what the fans want, sheer incompetence, or some combination of all of that.
They can't even give us things they've done before, things they they've done when they had less to work with.
And the thing that really gets me isn't the cut itself, that was bound to happen at some point.
It's the reason they gave for the cut, the straight up LIE they told for why they did it.
That it was to focus on higher quality visuals and animations, when the visuals are pretty much an upscaled 3DS with little cohesion and the animations are the same as previous games.
Hell, it looks worse than LGPE which came out before it, how the fuck does that happen?
If they had just said something like "We're getting near 1000 creatures and realize we can't keep ALL of the Pokemon in the games" then that would've been fine.
It would've stung yeah, and I honestly think they should've hired more people and delayed the game by like a year to make up for it, but at least that would've been a plausible reason.
Because yeah, having almost 1000 mons would be a lot of work and resources, and they'd have to keep adding to that for every generation.
But it's the LIE that turns this from an uncomfortable needle for a shot to a twist of the knife to the heart.
They cut out content and features with almost nothing that shows the extra effort they put in to make up for said cut content.
They left nothing behind. It's just a void.
