Yeah, no. It's crushing Let's Go in Japanese pre-orders, and I can't imagine it doing worse in the West. Let's Go sold 660,000 first week in Japan, while Sword/Shield will probably open over at over 1.5 million in that country.

Let's Go is at 11.25 million global sales right now, Sword/Shield will beat that easily.

Like I said before, the Let's Go games appealed to the biggest casuals, Go players; and most of those sales probably came from returning players. Casuals don't want to put in a ton of time into games and would rather avoid things that look complicated.

I'm fucking nauseous. I stayed up all night because how worried I was. Pokemon Sword and Shield was our last shot to prove that Pokemon is a worthwhile RPG. If SwSh gets reviewed poorly... then it's fucking over, Pokebros.

I want this to get a 98 on Metacritic. I want this to FORCE sonyggers and PCfags to buy a Nintendo Switch. I want them to cry as they're forced to withdraw $360 to play this game.

But it wont do well. Its getting alot of backlash, and was revealed to only have 400 Pokemon, smaller than the Pokedex before it. We fucking lost, Pokebros..

How do I calm down? How do I ease myself as we get closer to release and I have to face the inevitable that Sword and Shield are blunders?

1.X and Y and Sun and Moon were on the 3ds, a console with poor hardware sales and bad software sales due to piracy and a young audience with no money. SWSH is on the switch, a better selling console whose audience has more money for games.

2.The DS era was a low point for Pokemon. Pokemania had finally completely died off. The DS games added almost nothing for casual players, all changes were targeted at the core audience. Pokemon Go and detective pikachu had not revitalized the franchise yet.

The problem with Pokémon games is that if this game featured 1400 Pokémon with 4k graphics and a 50h story, it wouldn't probably sell more than 20m. Now in its piece of shit state, it will probably sell around 15m. I hate gf but I wouldn't double or quadruple the budget to sell 20% more games, this is the type of game pokemon fans will get from now on

To be honest, even if S/S sold like 10 million or some shit like that, I'd feel like it just means they could just include the Natdex in the next game, sell the usual amount as previous games, and we'd be back where we started

Yes, if a kid wanted a paid pokemon game (now they can have pokemon for "free" in their phones anyway), theybwoule want the one with a pikachu on the cover, not the one with a random mon.

I am not convinced kids will want this game more than what they got last year.

It all rests on the lite's ability & new price point to expand the player base.

And obviusly there is mario kart and the 18M cap for software. There is no way that pokemon outsells it.

We know this game is going to sell anywhere between 12-15M which makes it one of the worst selling main entries

It'll sell pretty well, but it won't sell as well as it could have. Mario Kart Deluxe has the highest sales at a little over 19 million, Shield and Sword will probably do over 12 million total
