Hi /vp/, I've been playing pokemon games ever since I was a child. I grew out of them in early 2010's. I've played gen 1, 2, 3, first 2-3 hours of pokemon Platinum 2 years ago and a few fangames. After seeing Swish and the shitstorm it spawned I became kinda nostalgic. Which pokemon game would you guys recommend?

You should finish off where you started with gen 4 or gen 5 games. Can be easily emulated too if you don't have any of those game consoles. All for free too.

It got significantly worse after Gen 3. Gen 4 is ok. Gen 5 and 6 are kind of dull and boring but they're not atrocious. Gen 7 is fulled with so many cutscenes and fluff that I didn't even finish it.
Something like Platinum -> B/W -> B/W 2 -> X/Y (and if you must) -> US/UM. Don't need to play any more than that. If you like you can play the G/S remake. It's pretty good.

that's what I was afraid of, gen 3 is my favorite one
I don't plan on playing 3D games, they look pretty shitty and I've heard only bad things about them, I've had the displeasure to watch my younger cousin play Pokemon Sun and the tutorial was an instant turn-off for me
