Hidden Power was a moronic move that they left in for way too long. It allowed special focused pokemon to have access to types they weren't intended on having and physical pokemon were left in the dust. Fuck Hidden Power. Return and Pursuit I can't defend the removal of, however. Unless we got something to replace them.

The risk of not being able to take 1 hit from a super effective move is definitely worth not instantly dying to Stealth Rocks and needing 3 teammates to control hazards.
And that’s Shedinja’s gimmick too.
Being both extremely easy and impossible to deal with depending on your Pokemon’s set.
It may not be an unstoppable wall, but it will be an amazing pivot, even more so with the news of HP and Pursuit being removed. and it will be a huge deal with set up sweepers since they can’t rely on Stealth Rock, Spikes, or Sand

One of the biggest weaknesses of Ferrothorn is that it's not actually a reliable way to counter things long-term because you don't have a reliable recovery move and you can get sniped by random HP Fire. Now you don't have to worry about HP Fire and a lot of the things that really gave it trouble like Heatran, Zapdos, Magnezone, Kartana, etc. are gone.
