>>41053648All starters being designed with specific motifs doesn't stop GF from trying to shill one of them, or at least set it up for shilling, that was case with Alola and now Galar as well, the Froakie line was obviously being set up for later with it being the only one on Ash's team, plus the whole Smash thing, Sakurai choosing Greninja doesn't make less of a shillmon, it was just choosen by another party.
The bond thing doesn't set right with me because how does Greninja have a deeper bond than Pikachu when Froakie/Frogadier were barely even used or shown bonding with Ash, they just decided instead of giving Ash a mega, they made his Greninja a mega, which is a form of shilling when he actually has Pokemon that do mega evolve and he's no stranger to using old Pokemon in newer regions.
You can't also say that they wanted to shill the frog based on early popularity as well because the Fennekin line (before Delphox was revealed) was rivaling Froakie in terms of popularity, so they couldn't make a decision based on that.
Also I don't understand where this Greninja vs Incineroar even came from, why are they suddenly mortal enemies, I thought both fanbases were ok with each other from the time I was here during Incin's Smash reveal.
