No news on other methods. Yellow glowy pokemon in the wild area CAN have HA's I think (as well as potentially good IVs and egg moves), but we don't know if daru or darm are in the WA. Other than that, you'd have to get lucky from a darmanitan max raid

It's the same activation but since its a fast (135 speed) physical form belly drum can activate it and be useful.
Even without zen mode its an average speed free choice band ice type with amazing coverage (fire/fighting/ground/rock and even u-turn). Darm is one of my fav mons I can't believe this is real lol

Once it reaches 50% HP it activates and changes Darmanitan's form.

New form has 160 base ATK and 135 base Speed.
Also gains Fire typing.
And it gets Belly Drum.

His U-Turn hurts just a little less than Pheromosa, but there no way to hit bulky Waters. Frail Waters like Inteleon can't take even resisted hits.

KB can still hit Waters with Fusion Bolt, but Zen Mode actually likes Stealth Rock, As I see it, Galarian Darmanitan is an Uber.

The Ice/Fire typing is the zen mode typing, there's no psychic. Instead of shifting to a defensive mode when threatened, Galar Darmanitan just goes fucking berserk and gets a base +20 Atk and +45 Spd boost at no cost to any other stats.

Shedinja is literally the only Pokemon who is either immune or resists Ice/Ground/Bug coverage. The fourth move is for whatever you think your team will need. The Band lets it break through walls with ease, and Scarf makes it good for a mid/late game sweep.

With base 160 attack and at +6, even uninvested it will hit like a fucking truck. The HP investment might let it live an unboosted non-SE hit at 50%, while its defense stats aren't great, Darm has a great HP stat. You could even forgo much of the speed investment and go bulkier if needed, a +6/+1 Ice Darm even with minimal investment will outrun and kill next to everything in one hit with its great coverage. Having rocks on your side and then drumming will also let you activate the berry. A more straightforward build with max investment in attack and a damage boosting item would also work very well and let it simply kill everything.

The reason for investing in bulk is that it might be better as at +6 attack and +1 speed, with those stats, and that coverage, you've pretty much won unless they got priority. I'd also imagine that the bulk would help it live a mach/bullet punch or aqua jet after drumming and then win the game.

105/55/55 defenses aren't great, but they really aren't the worst.

It won't live say a Conkeldurr Mach Punch after drumming, but it might live some a fake out or a priority hit from a less powerful opponent.

Scarf is the best set as an incredibly anti-offense Pokemon and revenge killer, but even if stall were still alive, this is how you kill it.

Most of the common steels are neutral to ice too. A 4HKO resisted to max defense, max bulk Aegislash is fucking amazing. Even if you ram into King Shield, all you lose is your choice band. You can still wreck shit all day.

It has good attack and speed.
The first ability is innate choice band.
Choice band is a really good item that locks you into a specific move, but increases your attack by 50%. This is now his ability instead.
Because Choice Band is his ability, that means it still has an item slots to either double down on Choice Band for another 50% increase, or go Choice Scarf, which will give it a 50% increase in speed.

That's not all!
Zen Mode is an ability that changes it's stats/typing when it's hp falls below 50%. It gets increased attack and speed.
It also had access to Belly Drum, which lets it boost it's attack by 400% at the cost of half of it's HP. This means it can trigger it's own ability and get a huge attack boost out of it.
The really good part now comes that dealing with these two abilities requires a different approach. And guessing the wrong ability could mean that you lose advantage or even the Pokemon that is most suited to killing it.

Gorilla Tactics is basically a Choice Band boost. We don't have the exact numbers, but it boosts attack while locking you into a single move. You can combine this with either a real Choice Band, or a Choice Scarf for boosted attack and speed at the same time with practically no downside.
Zen Mode is ridiculous because it's really fucking fast and has one of the highest attack stats in the game. It's on par with Slaking offensively.

The 1 and 2 just mean that it has gorilla tactics as it’s normal ability (taking up the first and second slots). Gorilla tactics gives it a damage boost but it can only ever use the first move it selects until it switches out. This is exactly what the item choice band does. The reason this is good is because it leaves darmanitan’s item slot open so it can either stack a choice band on top or gorilla tactics or it can hold a choice scarf and get the benefits of a choice scarf and choice band (no other Pokémon can do this).
>zen mode
Zen mode is a special mode that activates when at or under 50% hp. On normal darmanitan it isn’t good because it makes normal darmanitan slow. But the new zen mode on galar darmanitan makes it FAST, exactly what you want to be when already damaged. That way he can kill before he is killed. Also, zen mode makes the galar darmanitan into an ice/fire Pokémon. This is awesome both because it’s a type combo people have been crying for since 1998 and also because ice/fire has good coverage when combined with a third move, like earthquake or zen headbutt. Lastly this zen mode is made even better because it can activate zen mode by using belly drum, which sacrifices 50% of your hp to maximize your attack stat.

A lot of decision making in competitive battles is based upon an understanding of what your opponent’s Pokémon can do. There aren’t very many competitive builds for most Pokémon so if you know what people tend to run you can make decisions based upon that assumption. Since this new darmanitan has at least three viable ways to run it your opponent is forced into a guessing game that you can abuse
