Honestly at least Decidueye controls shadows and has a death theme with the whole owl thing, Alolan Marowak has the death theme with bones, and Sableye is a goblin that lives among shadows. Jellicent is the only Ghost type that really bothers me.

Jellcient literally wasn't designed as a ghost, they just slapped the type on as an afterthought mid-development. The designer wasn't very happy about that since she dislikes spooks

Well yeah, it was supposed to be pure Water. They slapped Ghost onto it for type balancing reasons, which disappointed their designer. Literally admitted in an interview.
If it's any consolation one of Frillish's new dex entries speaks of them being the ghosts of a sunken civilization, according to legend.

People slightly mistell the story about their retyping. Sugimori said that the artist had to redesign them to fit the Ghost type (because the battle/gameplay department called for more type variety) and she was unhappy about it. So presumably Frillish and Jellicent were originally cutemons.

Reminder that we have canonical proof that Ghost Type Pokemon can die. Meaning that they are in fact not dead and that you are a fag if you think otherwise. Ghost Type Pokemon are regular Pokémon with supernatural abilities.

They are capable of reproduction that requires living cells and can be replicated by Ditto. If Ditto had to kill itself to become a Dreepy, it would be dead and not be able to return to a living Ditto.

Pokédex entries on Ghost Type Pokemon are just folktales or “ghost stories”
