the streamer wasn't rotating his pokemon out a lot. occasionally he'd catch something new and swap out something older, but that pretty infrequently.
the game wants you to be constantly catching and using new pokemon, so if you stick with the same team of 6 you're naturally going to be over-leveled with exp. share in effect.
