TGS happened in September, so that would've been an opportune moment to slip out any sort of positive news, positive news that could've won back some people on the fence about Dexit.
The most decisive way to deal with a persistent PR offense is to villainize the people attacking you. The easiest way to do that is to present new information that destabilizes any movement against you and makes dissenters look like pathetic manchildren.

Gamefreak are uber incompetent and the only reason they ever got this far is because Iwata and other Nintendo execs would lean on them and force them to actually fucking apply themselves. Notice how the franchise suddenly started nosediving hard after Iwata passed.
