That's kind of the old rule, though. COMG points are declining for games across the board as digital downloads become more and more of a thing. One COMG point today means a lot more than it did for, say, OR/AS in 2014.

Digital sales really do seem pretty huge this time around to be fair. I know it’s anecdotal but almost everyone I know and have heard from that’s buying just pre-downloaded instead of ordering a physical copy.

Yeah, you really don't get how this works. For starters, the double pack counts as two sales, not one. Furthermore, COMG is less relevant now than in 2016 because of the Japanese surge in digital game purchases.

Sword and Shield surely won't match Sun/Moon's mastsive opening of like 1.9 million though, but I still think it'll be quite high, and probably better than Sun/Moon in terms of money (1.5 million times $60 > 1.9 million times $40).
