Actual state of Nintendo's franchises

No.41084904 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
>Super Mario: came back to the roots of the first 3D games to provide a much less linear experience, game had lots of appeal
>Mario Kart: took the last entry in the franchise which was basically flawless in terms of graphics and gameplay, added a couple of things here and here and tweaked a few others, best selling game on the console
>Luigi's Mansion: understood the appeal of the first two games and basically made it even bigger, multiplayer is dope
>The Legend of Zelda: totally reworked the series with one of the best Zelda and best open world games to date
>Yoshi: tried an experimental platformer quite easy but definitely charming
>Kirby: took what made RtDL great and expanded it, added lots of free postgame content like game modes and characters
>Fire Emblem: reworked their formula and made of the best modern FE, with an interesting and nuanced story and well-written characters
>Smash Bros: basically said fuck it, we'll throw a fuckton of content, now the best fighting game of all time

>Pokémon: graphics are terrible, like Fire Emblem Three Houses, but unlike FE3H the gameplay is bland, the game doesn't bring anything remotely new to the franchise as Dynamax will be forgotten next gen, had to cut content for the first time in the franchise for no good reason, game has very little to offer even compared to Pokémon standards

I know Nintendo isn't Game Freak but they still have a say in the matter. All of their franchises took different, successful routes, as all of the games mentioned are at least remotely good. Only Pokémon fails to evolve, or capitalize on what made it great.
How did they let this happen?
