Man, I don't have a lot in life. Few things have been so constant for me as Pokemon has. It's brought me closer to my friends and my family. When stuff's down in the dumps, I know I can turn on a Pokemon game and just relax for a bit.

I really wish you could achieve the same level of happiness from the games as I do.

I didn't think it would necessarily be 10/10, but I've never cared about graphics in a pokemon game and I understand that GF can't hand animate every single move for every single pokemon (at the time of preordering the extent of the dex cut wasn't known). Literally everything since then has been trash, and I'm out. I was expecting another 7-8/10 time filler like the 3DS games, but I can't excuse their laziness. Pokemon has never been an ambitious series so the initial impression wasn't much of a shock. They're fucking with the core gameplay this time though and it's too much.

I never planned on buying it, but when I saw the new pokemon designs I was pretty enticed. I considered possibly getting swoshi2 whenever that would come out if it was any good. Then my roommate preordered it digitally, and since we're logged in on each other's Switches I decided I'd download it and give it a try. I work nightshift on Friday so on Thursday night I'm gonna stay up for a few hours past midnight to play it for a bit and see how it is. I also downloaded his Let's go Pikachu for the free gigantamax chu but I don't think I'll use it, I'd rather use new mons.

I know. I'm talking about how lots of fans complain that the animation quality is janky and moves don't all have unique fluid animations. There's a pretty good youtube video on this reaching back to gen 1. Take something as simple as the animated sprites when starting a battle in crystal. If every pokemon has 5 frames of animation (conservative), that simple extra flair results in the artists needing to draw roughly 1250 extra sprites. If fans want Gamefreak to hand animate every move to make it look great (alongside the full national pokedex) assuming an average of 20 learnset moves, 30 TMs and 15 egg moves (grabbed venusaur as an example) multiplied by the 890 available pokemon, that would be 57,850 animations. The series is way too bloated for that.
