So given what we know right now from the livestreams and various other leaks, how would you truly and honestly rate these games out of 10? I'm personally leaning 3-4, I can't tell if the 3 is a kneejerk reaction from me or not but they're definitely below average.

Amongst people who got early copies, review scores will be high. People will likely paddle this as the best game yet - much like they did with XY and SM.
Amongst people who were denied early copies, review cores will be very mixed. It's ultimately still a Pokemon game, it has all the gameplay the franchise survives on, so a genuinely low score would be unusual to see from anybody who isn't giving a kneejerk reaction, but without any "persuasion" to give a higher score, I can't see this game getting positive reviews.

I am also disappointed with the games immensely, but please, please don’t review bomb! If you are going to leave a review please leave valid reasons and justification as to why you are disappointed as well as potentially other factors in the game that you appreciate. In terms of the OP, I reckon it will get high scores from reviews since they always have been normies and have a soft spot for the series. Probably 8/10 minimum, 9/10 or 10/10 because of the open world meme and to overcompensate for the “haters”

It's going to get an average of 8/10 at the lowest. A couple 9/10s because fuck the fanbase for having standards am I right. A few 6-7/10 sprinkled in. Lots of 8/10s from bought reviewers who at least kind of address some issues. Maybe a single 3-5/10 from someone honest. Maybe just maybe something lower from one or two people looking to drive traffic to their websites and channels since controversy gets hits

If someone reviews Pokemon badly, then they don't get review copies anymore. You know what gets video views and website hits? Reviews before the public is flooded with them after release. They will never stop this.

They're not going to do that for what is intended to be a system seller like SS. No one bought a 3DS for ORAS because it came out so late in its life cycle. SS is different. Same thing happened with XY. You just know Nintendo is will punish reviewers if they could potentially impact console sales, especially since they were hurt so much by the Wii U. They will do everything they can to ensure the continuing success of the Switch.

I'd personally give this a 5.5/10 from what I've seen. It's functional. It has some fun looking parts. The core gameplay is there. But that's it. There's nothing else.

With that out of the way, the game isn't that bad. It's better than every other Pokemon game.

eh, it doesn't really matter. Plenty of people took the time to explain and provide well thought argumtents as to why LGPE was shit on their reviews while the positive ones were literally "10/10 i liked it", and now the general memory of that is that people were review bombing the games

I feel like 6/10 or 7/10 would be fair. Most of the outrage is because people expected greatness from this game, not because the games are actually bad. They just aren't good, and that's what hurts given this should have been bigger and better than ever before.

I've pirated the leak, I've already finished it as well. Anything good that I say about Sword Shield also applies to nearly any other fucking pokemon game. The game did basically nothing new, it's literally just SM 2.0
I'd rather play FRLG, emerald, plat, HGSS and BW1/2. Hell, this will hurt to say, but I'd rather replay XY
Wild area is the game's only new impactful gimmick, and it sucks. No reason to explore when I can't catch anything because of the level bullshit and no reason to defeat those high level pokemon when they'll just give me even more fucking exp

Game is a 4, by far the worst mainline game, there's little to none to do other than fighting and catching and all batlles are done in a minute max. The game streamline you into completing the mainquest but outside of that there's nothing to do. Customization is nice, but camp is just a worse Amie, the currydex is shitty joke and the wild area is really as bad as people say. It's also incredibly glitchy and buggy but that might be a copy problem.
I would give it a 2/10, but probably people would bitch because I'm being unfair, it's the Sonic '06 of Pokémon tho

Oh the embargo apparently lifts tomorrow and it was just a mistaken claim that it was today. Despite that "mistake" being known and spread since yesterday and the "correction" only coming 4 hours ago, after no reviews were present. I call bullshit that it was a mistake if it was allowed to sit so long, Nintendo/TPC absolutely called in a last second delay IMO.

what's the point of a delay? If anything it will make things worse when
1) people realize there's a delay in the first place and know delays are usually a bad sign and
2) more and more keeps getting uncovered every day. Like the GTS not being in the game. Or the volume settings being locked behind a random NPC. New terrible animations being found.

The games were always easy but the AI is really passive in these games, and the team composition is really bad. There's also significantly less trainers in this game compared to past titles and those trainers almost always have 1 or 2 Pokemon even in the late game.
