From picking your faves from the immense roster offered to you post-league, to strict nuzlocke/starter only challenges, to actually catching them all, to breeding autistically to battle online, or even as simple as enjoying the waifus. I posit that one of the core Pokémon games biggest strength was how it unifies so many play styles by offering so much in its core experience.
This new generation has been the antithesis to that. This generation has been all about restricting the number of ways to play the game. There are less moves less Pokémon, and the Exp Share follows that through line of Game Freak undermining the wealth and diversity of players who enjoyed their games.
