The tree is just a bad draw texture. The other issues in this thread are indicative of how legitimately bad GF is at developing a game.

But surely there are better ways of dealing with this like continuing idle animations while stopping other movement or just not letting encounters happen while you're in a menu/climbing/interacting. If a Pokemon/NPC is following you and about to trigger a battle and you climb up a ladder surely it couldn't just stop in its tracks and turn around and leave instead of freezing. Maybe even show a little angry animation as it storms off

They really didn't, the 3DS games purposefuly never had this much stuff viewable in the distance and used way lower quality version of the pokémon models in the overworld. Pokémon popping in is their weird way to avoid lags, but it's a really dumb way to go about it. Use fucking LODs, geez.

okay in the extremely unlikely event that GF actually did this for lore reasons, Linoone's pokedex entry says it can only run in straight lines and has issues turning while running. I think this is the big one. Gamefreak is far from perfect but I think these games were half assed because when they started development they just assumed the Switch would fail so they didn't put money into it. We have them on record stating they didn't think the Switch would sell well after all.

This one is actually an error by the localization team. In japan, sunny day and sunny weather is actually "clear skies". In the translations only does it change to "sunny".

They really should have taken some time to rework Clear Skies. Like they just finished cutting a ton of moves, why not cut that one too and reintroduce Sunny Day and a night version of it? Maybe buff fairy moves or something, I don't know. They were so focused on making the world more immersive but then skimp on things like this. How cool would it have been to have "harsh moonlight" casting an eerie silver glow on the field in the middle of the night. And it's not like they reintroduced anything major and battle-related this gen either. A new weather effect would have been great

I've been worried about the Wild Areas ever since I first heard of them. Thing about sandbox/open areas is, you really got to fill it with tons of content and scenarios for it to feel like a sandbox. I know you're probably talking about the mainline games only but Pokemon Stadium 1/2 breath moves came out of Pokemon's mouths, flamethrower comes out of Smeargle's tail, Blastoise's water came out of its canons (except for bubble moves), etc. I can't believe they've never bothered to replicate that. I know nothing about model rigging or animation but I feel like it can't be that hard to position the move animation based on specific point on the model as opposed to in the middle of the field

I don't understand, Pokemon was never about graphics, why is it suddenly so important? Pokemon used to be fucking inanimate sprites and it was still a lot of fun.

In terms of gameplay the game looks great. As someone who haven't played Pokemon since Gen 3 I'm considering buying it.

Because there's nothing else to make up for it.
No cool features, only 400 Pokémon, no challenge (so I've heard).

It is neat to see it happen once in a while, but it's super fucking rare on the Switch version now. I've only had ONE happen after the Champion's Ballad patch. Still, better than it happening every 5-10 minutes before the game got patched.

Are you out of your mind? Unless they patch this virtually, through some kind of free online DLC, there is no time. And even then, it would be a huge failure and historic shame for the franchise. But the copies most probably have already been sent. There is no turning back now. SwSh will be consolidated as the single worst Pokémon game to be released.

You might be thinking of Raboot or whatever it's called using the move Headbutt, it attacks using its legs.

Cinderace actually has a unique animation for its unique move that matches the move description, taking a small pebble and kicking it around to form a flaming ball projectile that is kicked at the target.
