Meaning that you can't burn them with your only good fire pokemon Torchick (if you picked it), and the nearest pokemon center is back in Mauville City, which you needed Cut and Surf to get to route 119 in the 1st place. So if you died from a status ailment from an Oddish, you gotta bring your HM slave along.
I mean sure you got bug and maybe one good ice move but you probably didn't include one of them on your team after building a team to beat the fire gym leader earlier. Meaning that a Zubat's gonna carry you through this route the whole way. And all you want to do is get to Fortree City so you can get Fly and never go through this route again.
If you managed to skip as many trainers as possible, this is a route you return to to explore areas that you hadn't before, but they stupidly added in the rocks to block the surf path and made you need the Arco Bike instead. If most of these areas are areas you return to post game then why put rocks to block the waterfall? You won't have waterfall when you get there the 1st time.
Actually...I kinda miss gauntlets like this.
