>>41100495Normie lurker here. It is a very formulaic, tedious, boring ass game with not nearly enough exploration or utilization of the system. Nothing feels like a challenge, and even if I was a child I can't imagine I'd be interested. I know the n64 comments are a meme at this point, but it really does feel like an earlier console game. Gamecube maybe? It's just so unpolished and it can't hide it. Watching Hop (or anyone, really, but Hop is the biggest offender) do the same animations over and over is really noticeable and you can't help but feel like you're being shortchanged. It's like the game is doing an impression of what it thinks a pokemon game is.
Overall, I'd say the game is like when you see an old wrestler come back to Raw and do his catch phrases in a backstage segment and then leave: yeah, it's nice to see them, and you remember why you liked them, but it's not the same and just feels kind of sad and you think maybe it'd be better if they had just stayed away, so you could just hold on to the memories of the good times before they became a shell of themselves.
