as far as first versions go, sun and moon really knocked it out of the park
first playthrough the cutscenes weren't a problem, of course, and the game arguably had a better art direction than sword and shield (sorry james), and pokemon endgames are the fucking same

I liked Sun and Moon though. They have problems but they didn't really bother me first playthrough save for the hallway routes. I liked most of the new pokemon, I liked the Totem Fights and actually lost to them a couple times, which is more than I can say about pretty much every other Pokemon game I've played, save for maybe BW2 Hard Mode(didn't use EXP Share or Z-Moves)

Sword and Shield on the other hand doesn't seem to actually fix any of the problems I had with Sun and Moon and is a 3DS game pretending to be a home console game. I honestly can't believe Mario Odyssey and DQXI are on the same console as this piece of garbage. There are Wii games that look better than this.

Though most likely it has been trained that it needs to touch the yellow marker in a specific way in order to get a reward. If it knows it isn't allowed to jump or fly then it has to figure out another way.

Pretty much confirms what I've been thinking about paid reviews. I've noticed lately that IGN, Gamespot, etc seem to have a little more balls, and actually shit pretty hard on "AAA" games that you're "supposed" to like. They don't need the dirty money anymore. So game publishers turn to these mid-to-bottom tier sites that are small enough to need the money and fear rocking the boat.

Case in point, look at these no-name sites heaping praise on the game. And but of course, Daddy Nintendo gets to read the review and approve it before it's actually published for the masses.

Speaking as someone who only played SM once and then never touched it again, the cutscenes were indeed a problem. Getting stopped every three steps by Lillie was obnoxious even if I hadn't seen the specific piece of dialogue she was going to tell me.
