If Nintendo and Gamefreak didn't have fan games so much, we probably would have a lot more fan games that would be better than anything Gamefreak has produced. At least Sonic fans have Sonic Mania and many mods and fan games that are really good. We have to depend on Gamefreak while Sonic fans don't, so armies of shills defend the games because they know Gamefreak is the only dev we're going to have for these games for the foreseeable future.
