As bad as the video games have gotten, at least they aren't pay to win (not counting mobile garbage).

TCG peaked in Gen 3, was okay in Gen 4, and went to hell as soon as EXs were reintroduced. Now its just basics getting bigger and stronger. Also check out TCG twitter, the community acts like highschoolers.

I felt like there was a sweet spot right in the middle of the XY block that had just the right amounts of ridiculous everything that made it fun. I think it was PRC-BKT.
I haven't played much original -ex era or any later DP era, but none of my friends were ever interested in playing old decks/formats. Bastards.

Abundant Fire/Tag Team support in general compared to the lack of non-GX support is what makes it shit rn. You have Malamar which is... alright, and that gatekeeps every other non-GX deck, and lack of almost any ball search is gay as fuck.

Taste is subjective but the tag team era has been amazing art wise. GX cards used to be ugly CGI work and now it's done with different artists. Much much better. Trainer full arts are still amazing and even some commons have great artwork.
