There's no such thing as a magical importer. If you have a mesh, you can put it in any game engine that has meshes.
The only times you may run into an issue that you have to fix is if one game's skeleton is different than another's (DA2 and DAO had this despite running on the same engine).
It's quite literally just packaging the base mesh and texture files into the right format for the engine you're working on.
And newsflash, that's literally just "zipping" something into an unusual file type.
This "they messed up the importer" narrative is the next shill bullshit and needs to stop before it gets as obnoxious as the "they're different models".
(Also to remake these meshes with this many polygons with this many verticies all in the exact same place.... You can do that, but Jesus Christ would that take forever.... And you'd need to use the original mesh as a guide. So why would you not just import it...?)
