That would be true if the Gens didn't vary in quality in terms of progression, level design, amount of postgame, styles of capturing and finding Pokemon, different shiny hunting methods, etc. The only way you can think that Pokemon has been the same for the last two decades is if you are unironically braindead.

Gen 4 is the only Pokemon game I never finished out of pure boredom. Same tired villains, same basic structure, just a slog. Oh here's Zelda, but he's on a boat. Here's Zelda but he's using shit motion controls. Zelda games do more to differentiate itself than others like Mario or Pokemon but outside of BotW, it has the same formula since 1991

This is such a self-evident thing that it doesn't need explanation. You're making the case that every Pokemon game is practically the same and every Zelda game is practically the same solely because they feature the same basic outline. This is like saying Back to the Future and Looper are practically the same thing because they both have time travel in them. This is like saying Paper Mario and Final Fantasy 5 are practically the same thing because they're both RPGs. It's plainly obvious to anyone that every Pokemon game isn't the same thing just because they have players travel a region and catch Pokemon to overcome challenges. They have not so far made a game worse than DPPt, which I was able to tolerate even if I never went back to them. If SwSh manages to beat that low point for poor quality, then I'll consider not buying into gen 9;

No, apparently not. You start in Start Town with a grass, fire, or water boy who will evolve twice before the end, battling through gym leaders and getting wrapped up with a criminal organization who wants to rule or destroy the world, before being beaten by a 10 year old who fights more gyms like nothing happened. Like, that's almost all the games but with small tweaks to the gameplay. Something like encounter rate changes or having the same battle formula but now there's 2 Pokemon on the field isn't really big enough to make me feel like they made a leap in progress or changed it that much, not like that one leap from Persona 2 to 3. They feel more like updates, not brand new titles.

Im buying the game. From the perspective of someone who hasn't played a Pokemon game since red I couldn't give a fuck about Pokemon being removed or whatever else people are sperging over. It might not look like the most graphically advanced game ever but I've never been one to care much about that. Just want to have some fun playing a comfy Pokemon game which is what this looks like.
