Because they can actually catch and BATTLE with Pokemon. That's the entire point of this franchise.
Fuck it when anime makes cool-looking PokeGirls into some "coordinator", "dancing", "performance" crap where instead of training their Pokemon, they care about some shitty ribbons and their makeup.
