Why would I be shilling for a fucking 16 year old game. Sure it had a lot of flaws, very annoying ones but the best thing about it was that it was not made by Game Freak. And that fact alone contributed immensely to it being a much more pleasant experience concerning animations and models.

Yes, people would just say "I don't care it's still fun". You could make them all T pose and bring the price of the game from 60 to 80 dollars, and have a specific bonus Nintendo switch online fee specifically for Pokemon and nothing else and people would still say "still buying it cuz it's fun".

It's because the engine they used to animate would use rixels and mixels as opposed to pixel-by-pixel sprite animation.

Now when the games got out on the 3ds i personnaly remember seeing threand on /vp/ linking interviews of the developper justifying the poor performance on the high resolution of polygons they used in models for future proofing productions of next games. Thats why they where only portions of the games in 3d in xy and they cut it all in the next games, because it made the game lagged. People were still pissed about that, now we are on switch, the game clearly use the same engine and ist as laggy as it were on 3ds. They didn't. Pokemon had an animation for melee attacks, ranged/special attacks, and maybe a signature move. They at least looked like attacks, though, not just a short hop.
