SM were implemented pretty quickly. Showdown streamlined changing for each gen so that adding New Pokemon can be extremely quick.
Without the datamine, it would probably take until tuesday of next week at most.

There's already a test server up. There are no sprites and it doesn't show speed when hovering over a mon, but it's playable.

Use the Nexus server for now. You have to pretype all your gen 8 sets though. And all the gen 8 models will be broken jpegs.

they never cited difficulty with implementing pokemon in battles, that's part of what makes it easy to dump them, it's all templated
all showdown has to do is fill out their own templates, we run into divergent edge cases all the time though
