For me it's because of the lack of content, Pokemon Z could've fixed that but it never came to be.

As a guy who's been playing since Red and Blue, I consider XY the last truly good Pokemon game.

Really good gen of Pokemon, the best since 1-2. O-Powers were based. Graphics weren't really unacceptable yet. Megas were based. Super Training was based. Less cutscenes than sun/moon, though ideally we would have a very minor story with a very quick start and little interuption, like in gens 1-2. Left out ridiculous shit like Z moves and giant Pokemon. Tons of other reasons I can't get into right now. But yeah. Gen 6 was kino.

For real, it's like someone is making shit like this for that purpose. You find the game too easy? let's increase the handholding, you like keeping the exp share deactivated? Now you won't have that option, you don't like these cringy cutscenes? We made even more of these and you can't still skip them, you think that the game is too infantile, even for kids? Let's splishy splash things a bit and design the game for toddlers

I've been thinking this for a while. ORAS released around 5 years ago, we can even go beyond that to X/Y so 6 years. I think quality in terms of content dropped with the jump to the 3DS. The issue was a lot of people were distracted by 3D models and just the plain fact that pokemon was on 3ds to really get riled up.

I remember back then Masuda said in an interview how mobile games are becoming popular, so people have short attention spans and therefore there's no point in having a battle frontier. I was pissed of when I heard that because it just seemed lazy and so were a lot of others.

I guess what I'm trying to say is animosity has been growing for a few years towards pokemon/gamefreak, because they've clearly been coasting the series without trying to make their games the best they can be. Now with Sw/Sh cutting out most of the pokemon from the game ( I believe this was the final straw), coupled with shoddy graphics, barren wild area etc, people are waking up and complaining in mass about a lot of shoddy practices by gamefreak that should have been called out years ago. Better late than never though I suppose

I think if they're incapable or not willing to, then yeah should give it to someone or outsource most of the work to another company. The issue is Masuda is getting older so he's handed it over to Ohmori who is just as bad.

Also I feel like they're not using a fraction of the money that they should for something that's supposed to be Nintendo's AAA title. I know apologists like to say 'but the most of the profit isn't made form the games.' To counter that I would say that even if ti wasn't the games make plenty just by themselves, especially when you have games that sell less with better content and graphics. So they really need to pump way more money. I think the truth is they just get away with the bare minimum because they know it will still sell reasonably well .

The Battle Frontier was, for the most part, a well-liked part of Pokemon Emerald's post-game that people would've liked to see return in the Ruby and Sapphire remakes. Game Freak decided not to have it return, and the reason they gave for this (something about kids having shorter attention spans because of smartphones) was really stupid. What they did in the OP's image was a huge middle finger to everyone who would've liked to see the return of the Battle Frontier.
