There used to be this thing where just blindly creating Gen3 pokemon in PokeGEN with a Gen5 save wouldn't technically count as "official" due to the trashbytes. This is back before 3DS and PokeBank was out, so PokeCheck's servers were the only way to know if your manufactured or edited mons would be legit or not. Always got flagged when checking fabricated Gen3 guys. My autism wouldn't let me just create a Gen5 guy, I wanted that Bug-Catching Contest Scizor caught in the elusive Sport Ball with the G3 tag.
Did PokeHex streamline that process? There was this program I had that would mimic a fabricated G3 pkmn file going through G4 and outputting as a legit G5 pkmn file with appropriate trash bytes.
In the end, none of it mattered. PokeBank accepted tons of shit that PokeCheck would have red flagged. Piss, am I the only one here who remembers this?
