Anyway, where to the Switch games fall into the multiverse?

Is LGPE part of the Mega timeline since it has mega evolution, or is it a different timeline where the Kalos War also happened?

Are LGPE's Pokédexless Red and Blue the same Red and Blue in Alola's Battle Tree?

Do the SwSh events happen in a timeline with Megaevolution while megastones are simply not found in Galar?

How many years have passed since the Alola events and the Galar events?

Any returning characters in SwSh that could hint anything?

I'm pretty sure Let's Go is its own contained continuity that will never merge with the others, Sword and Shield is part of X and Y/Sun and Moon timeline. I would say it takes place 2 years after USUM, following the trend of past games

Same reason BW is the same timeline as HGSS, because why not? It's the same word, some time after and in another place, but we have no reason to think they live in another, more advanced universe like it happens with every other new universe. Sure, they could be from another universe, maybe DP remakes will explain Gigantamax only happens in that universe or something like that, but so far I don't think we have a reason to expect a new universe already

ORAS' multiverse plot element is, in part, to hide the fact the game's timeline isn't even self-coherent.

It was really just meant tongue-in-cheek, since your bottom screen is literally you playing a GBA, but a lot of dialog plays around with the idea that a lot of things in Hoenn happened about 10 years ago – a reference to how long it's been since RS originally came out, but also worked with (at the time) best estimates about how long ago it would've been in-universe between RBY/RSE and XY.

I think the intention was there to imply that ORAS occurred at the same time as XY, but since they adapted RS pretty faithfully, there's enough plot discrepancies that result.

The multiverse timeline, GBA, Link Cable(!) etc. all point to the fact it's not meant to be included on any timeline, and is really just meant to be its own fun thing.

I don't remember what exactly the problem was with SM, but it was probably referencing events in several timelines and didn't keep straight which ones were which.

USUM reintroduced the multi-verse aspect and took it to a logical extreme so it can handwave any future continuity errors as muh multiverse.

As far as anyone should care, there's no point trying to track a series timeline anymore. RBY and GSC are self-coherent, and RSE and DPPt go along with it as well, but retcons from that point onwards should be assumed as nonsensical.

The Mega timeline is some fanon bullshit that managed to make its way into the official games.

To be fair even before SM I was operating under the impression that we're dealing with a huge multiverse situation, if only to explain stuff like RS and BW. If you want me to I can pull out examples from Transformers again, because if we go off the original Marvel Comic, now we're getting into the shit.

Advanced timeline has better technology (FRLG Kanto's tehch > GSC Kanto's tech), they already discovered Dark and Steel types, Oak already knows about over 300 mons (the Pokedex Birch gives you even came from that package that probably Oak sent to him, Birch just sent data of Hoenn's species to Oak and he updated the dex), they also know about eggs, etc etc
Basically the same differences that exist between the advanced timeline and the mega timeline megaevolution aside

On the other hand, off the top of my head all versions of Red seem to be from a version of Yellow despite one not existing in all timelines. You could say he got the Pokemon other ways, but I dunno. Then you have BW confirming Platinum over DP, meaning they're arguably not canonical in the first place. Also correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Nation Dex unlock from some complicated side quest in the Sevii Islands? Or is it just trading. I always forget how that fucking stupid evolution lock works. And on that topic, which game mechanics are canonical and which aren't? BW has the weirdness that is Entralink, which you can't really handwave away because it's a major landmark in the middle of the fucking region. This sort of shit is why I'm not convinced any game fits particularly well in any timeline.

I know he's not a well boy, but that's not exactly evidence. Similarly, Rainbow Rocket can be considered canonical, and it uses classic Maxie and Archie from timelines where they won, so any list would have to include various Rainbow Rocket origin universes. Then you've got the Ultra Beast homeworlds, the fact that not only are there Sun and Moon universes, but alternate versions where the times are different but the available Pokemon are the same, and the equivalent Ultra versions. At that point, let's do timelines for the animes, the mangas, the different language versions of the games, and at that point we're just in the continuity family system like I keep saying we are.
