Basically trading and battling online works like it did in Lets Go, you can only trade or battle with people who enter the same code as you, there is no way to request any Pokemon.
They did they to make you buy another copy for all Pokemon, or just hack since thats fine too you wont get caught.

It wasn't fine at all. It's glitches were abusable, it was flooed with hackmons and deals that were either way too good (creating more casualization for pokedex filling) or just retarded.

They axed the GTS for money, it's as simple as that. They don't want you to be able to trade with yourself since now you can have multiple save files with one copy of the game, they want you to shell out for Home or even multiple games and multiple switches.
