I'll apologize when we get absolute certain proof that Pokemon Z was never a considered project. Because if they went through and made Pokemon Z a real game, everything afterwards would not be as shit as it was, and the franchise would be fine as of right now.

The game met my only requirement of having all the pokemon transferable and didn't do something stupid I never expected like cut out moves. They're fine.

Oh things I ever bitched about was the story changes from SM to make Lusamine look less evil/the bs "it's like platinum!" marketing, but I never had any real problems with it.

I'm sorry that Hau was such a shitty trainer that i was legitimately surprised that they made you fight him instead of Kukui who would've been more of a challenge.

I'm sorry that you forced people into the festival plaza on the second island before the grass trial if you didn't touch it at any time beforehand which means you were forced into an unskippable tutorial.

I'm sorry you were the last time we'll see GTS (thank fucking god) because fuck everyone and their mom who put a version exclusive pokemon up for trade for a fucking Legendary.

And I'm fucking sorry that your motion controls were shit for your warp hole minigame and the C-stick was an even worse option in it.

gen 7 has always been my least favorite (until swshit) but i started a nuzlocke of ultra moon a few weeks ago, and with nuzlocke rules its actually pretty challenging and decent. ive been playing thru the whole series in this way (in a random order. i started with black2, then platinum, then x, then hg) and so far i have more casualties than heartgold and x combined.

They'll never admit it but it's pretty clear that Sun and Moon were released a year earlier than planned, which is why they feel so much like betas. Z was supposed to be the 2016 game, with Sun and Moon releasing in 2017 and USUM not existing at all. USUM are the final versions of Sun and Moon with enough miniscule changes to market them as new games and not get sued, but they were still half-assed because they were working on Let's Go because A Nintendo demanded a Switch game and B Go took off and made a shitton of money.

Slightly related I still think Let's Go were developed as 3DS titles before being hurriedly ported to the Switch because of the demand for a Switch game. That same demand is why Sword and Shield are so rushed and halfarsed, Nintendo demanded a mainline Pokémon game for on the Switch too. It's pretty clear given that the Switch exclusive stuff (joycon, 2-player) is halfarsed and shit with no 2-on-2 tag battles despite that being the literal most obvious thing to put in a supposed 2-player co-op mode, not to mention that the motion controls for catching in Let's Go are shit.

Added to this is the fact that the producers of the anime were told less than a year from the end that they had less time than they thought to wrap the series up, resulting in a rushed final season with most of the sub-plots dropped because there wasn't time for them. The two unused Pokémon Bank game slots for Gen 6 is further evidence of planned Gen 6 games getting scrapped.
