We are never getting Normal/Ghost, Grass/Fire, Bug/Dragon or Rock/Ghost. They have passed up way too many opportunities to use these typings by now. I am convinced they have those on a blacklist to never use, ever.

Poison/Steel is very likely next games with the DP remakes, Sinnohean Garbodor using a metal trash can as armor and a lid for a shield or some shit.

judging from the amount of pokemon this gen who could have been rare dual typings but who were made monotype for some reason, I'm guessing GF is somewhat reluctant about creating too many dual types now.

Normal Ghost is immune to Ghost, Fighting, Normal. Which leaves only Dark to do SE damage. If we ever get Ghost/Normal mon it'll be 400 BST trash, mark my words.

Nah, mono-typing is just bland, its the vanilla choice. Fire/fighting is a cery specific pick for a typing choice and it was forced onto starters for three generations in a row. People got sick of it because it seemed stupid that GF would repeat themselves so blatantly, especially in Gen V when Samurott and Serperior were mono-type but for whatever reason Emboar wasn't.

Any of the remaining Normal combos could very easily be a "regular" animal that adds the other element to it. Same with Fighting, sort of.

Bug combos are the easiest thing to come up with. Fairy is also pretty flexible.

yeah. Bibarel, Sawsbuck, Diggersby, and Pyroar are all like this. they could easily add other animals to cover the other Normal/X combos

To be fair, a lot of the dual-type normal mons are kind of a stretch.
With very few exceptions (Girafarig being the biggest example) just about every normal/X mon could be pure X.
Bibarel, Deerling, Litleo, Heloptile, Diggersby, Drampa, and every Normal/Flying and Normal/Fairy type could've been monotype and nobody would've questioned it.

Peppers aren't actually hot, though. They create the sensation of burning, but their temperature is normal.
If anything, a pepper Pokemon would be mono-grass with a lot of fire moves or a signature move/ability that causes burns.
Gamefreak seems to like doing little nods to real life, even if it ends up making people confused.
