The main problem with Pokemon consumer is they accept an average game as long at it's doesn't change.
The bar of pokemon games was always low and they never improved it in any way. So now that fans want something bigger from the biggest franchise of the world, people keep bringing the fact that Pokemon was never more than game with the same game boy gameplay 23 years ago and don't ask more
As long as new Pokemons as bad as they are, a new region, a new gimmick and a bad guy as stupid as they can do is included, the public will be pleased
If Gen 9 would gave us a straight route with no other old pokemons other than the Gen 1 starter, pikachu & eevee and 8 gyms, people will still praise it
