Buying the other supports bad unfinished games and says "Yes, this is good. We want more of this."
One is positive and will usually bring about a higher quality of games. Even if you're the kind of person who doesn't think critically and buying a brand name is enough for some mindless casual fun, you have nothing to lose from a good series getting better. Maybe you'll even enjoy it more without understanding why.
One is negative and will usually bring about a lower standard of games. If you're the kind of person who doesn't think critically, chances are you won't mind. You might end up being less invested in a bad game and stop, but you won't really think about it. The people who aren't as casual suffer from it most though. Like you might not notice the worm in your apple as you eat it and the taste may not really change, but once you notice it, it's all you notice. We're asking that the worms be removed from the apples going forward. For someone who never noticed, you won't perceive a benefit if you never did before and didn't care even when people told you. But it will definitely benefit the people who don't like worms in their apples.
