>>41178033Something tells me they did it for consistency about Eviolite. Since it was introduced, the only cross gen evolutions have been from Pokémon that were already able to evolve. Galarian evolutinos don't count because they evolve from Galarian forms also introduced now.
Yeah they have given zero fucks about consistency in other things, but by now you must have realized GameFreak aren't the most common sense bunch
