I honestly wouldn't have minded the first Pokemon game on the Switch to have the same level of graphics as gen ORAS / USUM, if we got plenty of content.
Like, in one game, we get all the previous regions, remade in the same graphics level, BUT WITH ALL THE REMOVED CONTENT BACK.
One 3DS Pokemon game was what, ~4GB on average, wasn't it?

Even for 7 regions, that would still be only 28GB, plenty doable on the Switch.
With that said, I am absolutely not advocating laziness in Game Freak as a game developer.
Best possible scenario would be all the regions in good graphics, of course, but right now we have neither.
