Buy it if you want, but know that buying it supports Gamefreak's bad habits, and whatever diminished enjoyment you derive out of this entry will only be even more diminished and unsatisfying come next product.

My take is that I'm not sure we're missing out on much, the game looks as railroaded as Sun and Moon, and the wild area looks very clumsily executed. Dynamax is objectively the worst parts of Mega Evolution and Z-Moves. If you're there for the Pokémon, there are other ways to have fun with them. Showdown, TCG, etc.

If you really want to buy it but can't come to terms with supporting the company, just wait a few months and buy it used, like a normal adult with self-control. It's not like it can only be consumed once a la Hershey products, it's a video game.
I'd recommend mid-January or early February if you want an easier time finding new copies. Or just wait 6 months for the inevitable new game announcement, that'll cause people to resell in preparation for the next one.
