I just don't understand. Why is Dexit a joke to so many people? How are people neutral about the national dex being culled? Why?

Literally why? They can excuse it due to technical issues? Is that the reason? Is that the only reason?

The same can be said for many anti-dexit, too.

Personally, I've been expecting pokemon started being cut from the games sooner or later, so technically I'd be okay with the culling. The only reason I'm not is because we've got nothing in exchange. I also think SHSW was the worst possible time to cut pokemon, given it is the first mainline/core/whatever pokemon game on a (semi) home console, which is something most of us had been looking forward to for basically two decades.

Most of the pokemon cull supporters aren't "hardcore" pokemon players.

For them pokemon is another game that they play a few hours once in a while or like to see the new region, maybe beat the game, and never touch it again. Some of them buy merchandise and related stuff but don't care about the games.

So they don't give a shit about half the roster being culled, have in mind that these people like to be guided and that's why all the cutscenes and hanholding in recent games, it's not because otherwise it would be "hard for children".

Notice the vast majority of people that support the dex cull on twitter are white women that don't actively play the games and use the term 'gamer' as a pejorative, and other kind of SJWs.

On top of that it's the fact that /vp/ -> 4channel -> 4chan is opposing the dex cut (mostly), and 4chan was labeled as the baddy bad by the media that forms their opinions.

Being genuine or earnest about anything on the internet is pretty much a faux pas now, and people who speak up on the dex cut in any named capacity (aka not 4chan) have to be more or less earnest about it and how it disappoints them since you're pretty much gonna get banned if you straight-up call Masuda a retard.

Because they don't understand the reality. Many of them seem to trust Gamefreak to rotate the dex fairly and not leave anything out for years at a time. They can't comprehend that many won't see their favorites again for a long time, and they don't seem to think it won't get worse as the dex expands and bigger and bigger chunks of the dex are left out with each entry. So not once did I participate in anything related to the "national dex." Not only did it not affect me, but I didn't even know the "national dex" was a thing until the chimpouts in the past 7 days.

The regional dex makes up 100% of the gameplay of the actual game.

What use does the national dex? I don't really know. Probably only useful for online play but that is cringe tier and if I'm going to play a game online, it's not gonna be fucking pokemon of all things.

The entire post-game for me was making cool teams and battling people online with gimmick/underused mons. Now I have gutted team choice so I'm not buying.

Also on my 3rd+ playthroughs I usually send over eggs/hack in out of region mons for more team variety.

The whole issue to me is that as a kid the whole point was gotta catch em all. Even if you cant find all pokemon in the game atleast let me transfer them in through home. Pidgey isnt in moon but it's in older games so I play x and y, catch a pidgey and use bank to get it into moon. I'm almost done catching the entire dex and now I cant bring all of the pokemon I've spent years of my life catching and transferring up.

I've finished the hoenn dex, kalos dex and alola dex. And I'm halfway done with the rest almost more than half for some and it irritates me that I cant bring them to the newest game and finish what I started. Tbf I dont care if the game is perfect we all know gamefreak are borderline retards at making games so I dont care about a tree texture or wonky animations but using that as the excuse for culling half the Dex sucks. Because I feel like I actually wasted my time. That being said in a few hours I'm gonna play shield and I'm gonna have fun with it because I always have with these games but this time its bittersweet. Hopefully gen 4 remakes/gen 9 will be better and fix these issues because I know gamefreak still care a little bit and do listen because a lot of things they did for gen 8 makes it seem like they listened but still disappointing none the less

I only ever completed the regional Pokedexes anyway, there was something about transferring Pokemon from game to game that felt so mechanical to me. Like you're just trying to fill a quota or something. Pokemon is about the adventure, the Pokedex was always just a little side project that was there if you wanted to do it. Which, I agree, there was too little oversight from GF in what people could legitimately ask for (male Dittos, etc.).

At most I'll use like 12 Pokemon and see like 300 max during a fairly long playthrough because I don't transfer, so around ~200 is more than enough for me, after that it's diminishing returns. I use different pokemon almost every time too.

Having all of the Pokemon available in on game has always felt unnatural to me, I'm still hoping they'll make the full roster available for online battles (Home has GTS and trading already)
