I'm liking it more than Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon in terms of just playthrough enjoyment. The Alola story was so fucking annoying, at least with Sword and Shield they save the rushed plot until the end. I am at the 3rd gym and so far it just feels like classic Pokemon, it's completely passable.

I've watched people play through the full game twice, the end game story is incredibly underwhelming and rushed. I won't have any new impressions though so it's okay, and I don't really play Pokemon for the plot. All I know is that in Gen 7 you were stopped at every possible moment, but in Sword and Shield the shitty parts are less in your face for most of the game.

Not great, depends what you're replaying it for. Despite the dex cut the Pokemon variety is VERY good so you could do multiple playthroughs with many different teams, but not sure what else people replay the game for.

Also, team yell is easily the worst "evil" team in franchise. They're just team skull but less funny and soulless. The game would have been better without them
