It also happened with ORAS. Notice how all the missing content is directly related to the postgame. Which was also the problem with XY and LGPE.
It's obvious their dev cycle is too short and they spend most of their time planning and laying out cities, characters and Pokémon. Expect Pokémon SuperSword and SuperShield to have semi-decent postgame, fix the most glaring graphical issues and add at least 100 more Pokémon.
