>>41196285>Ruby and Sapphire on the same tier as Emerald>Emerald on the same tier as the original games>X and Y on the same tier as FRLG>Gen 5 games being higher than the generations with Battle FrontiersBut I digress. You're correct in that LGPE and Sun and Moon are at the very bottom, which is the relevant section of the tier list for discussing Sword and Shield.
Sword and Shield are downgrades Sun and Moon, objectively in almost every way but graphics.
>Battle Tower is even more basic than Sun/Moon's with no Super mode or bosses>Same overly-lengthy cutscenes/story, but with even worse dialogue and an even more obvious, brain-dead plot>While a few parts of Sword and Shield look presentable, the majority of it, most notably the Wild Area, look worse than LGPE and SM (upscaled).>Cut Pokemon/Moves>No GTS>Can't turn off EXP Share, despite the fact that the game's difficulty isn't scaled for the EXP Share, despite the fact that Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were (and you COULD turn of the EXP Share then for at least a minor difficulty increase). And even LGPE manages to outshine them in some ways.
>Can't see shinies in the overworld>Can't walk with your Pokemon, let alone ride on them>While most towns look more polished, LGPE manages to look better than the Wild Area and even some routes in Sword and ShieldI honestly can't see any reason why they should be considered on par with Sun and Moon or even the likes of LGPE. There are some meager QoL changes, but they're drastically overshadowed by every other problem. Sure it's easier to make a competitively viable Pokemon, but you're gonna be dealing with a VGC meta where Ferropex are law and Aegislash runs rampant. I'd rather just use Showdown; you don't get the satisfaction of catching and training the Pokemon yourself, but at least you aren't limited to whatever random choices Game Freak decided to lob in.
