>d-dude it's just average! bazing-
This is unprecedented. Mostly pokemon games can be described as supersets of previous installments, containing all the core features, adding some more, and having their own gimmicks. Now, SM started going backwards with removing things like national pokedex and battle formats, but SworShiel is something else by virtue of beginning a permanent trend of only including arbitrary pokemon and moves. Not only that, we have paid online with less features, a butchered battle tower which is even worse than battle tree which was worse than maison... the game is short and has little to nothing to do after beating it.
Technical problems aplenty! You could say that GF bit off more than they could chew, but in its core this game innovates precisely nowhere, having a structure very similar to RBY's but simplified. The only area that tries to make use of the better hardware is the tacked-on "wild area", which as we know is very cramped and has little to do other than brainlessly following the red beams and grinding "raid battles". In other words, banal but functional busywork which was done in the routes of previous games, but the ones in this game are too busy being disposable tunnels. All this on a console platform, on which games are held to a higher standard than on handhelds!
Calling this game "average" in any way is simply wrong and done in bad faith. If you didn't think the series started regressing, you'd better believe it now.
