Supposebly it's a problem with the switch's hardware and affects other games like fire emblem. Something about it not dealing with Ithink it was either storage methods or game cards that went over 32 gbs of storage or something. I believe other games like fire emblem have the same issue

I don’t have a main Switch. I bought one solely for Pokemon and SMTV (FE and BotW when the price drops)

Everything else of any interest on the Switch can be gotten on PS4 or PC.

Hacking the switch has nothing to do with it. The problem only surfaced once people got their hands on legit copies, otherwise you would have been hearing about it for a week.
In fact, hackers are the least at risk since most of them format their SD cards to fat32 regardless and this is a bug with exFat.

managed to talk my friend out of buying the eshop copy last night. Glad I did, she's lost 2 xbones to red rings and lost sykrim data like 5 times. Her luck she would of bricked her switch

Epic lies indeed, it has nothing to do with hacks and everything to do with GF trying to save too often for the switch to handle with it's shoddy exFAT drivers.
Actually, hackers have been doing the best since they're using dumps of the physical version which don't cause this problem near as often.
