No, Choice Band/Specs, or Dyanamx are getting banned to Ubers.

The Dynamax mechanic breaks so many things, but Smogon might be pressured to gut everything else in the game to make it work. That includes banning Dragon Dance, Nasty Plot, the pseudo legends and all mythicals.

-Double HP and all moves become Max Moves which are slightly weaker Z-Moves (100-130 BP)
-Max Moves have powerful secondary effects like in LGPE, setting up screens, terrain, weather, or boosting stat stages
-Max Moves do 50% through Protect-like moves and still grant bonuses
-Choice items are not locked into move
-Life Orb recoil only takes 10% off the original HP, not the buffed HP
-Immune to flinch, phasing, and weight-scaling moves like Low Kick and Heavy Slam

ie choice shit would lock a dynamax pokemon into a move they didnt have access to because of the new moves they get and theyd be forced to struggle, so they added a deliberate exception because it was the fastest, laziest way to make it work

see also: transitional overworld animations like the bike deploy or ladders freezing the entire game world, likely because activating a battle or trainer or something during those animations bugs out the game

I think it will take a few bans before they realize it literally can't be balanced. Gyarados and Kyu-B will go first, then Excadrill after the best water-type goes away, then something else busted that will inevitably take Drill's place. At that point, they will hopefully realize the whole mechanic is cancer and needs to go.

Honestly Dynamax itself is the problem here. Smogon needs to ban it ASAP or otherwise they're ll waste months if not years trying to deal with the symptoms instead of the root cause, like they did with Baton Pass and Arena Trap.

Everything about it is unbalanced. Everything. Matches boil down to "whoever dynamaxes their sweeer first wins". This isn't fun and skillful at all.

Once these Pokemon are gone, then the defensive stops like Toxapex, Ferrothorn, Corsola-G will get hit.

Apparently choice items lock into <insert move's name here>, so if the move turns into <Max move> the name reference returns an error.
All this could have been simply solved by referencing the move's position in the list.

Ttar is an underrated Dyanamx abuser. Max Quake boosts his SpD, so spamming EQ after Dynamaxing following a DD and finishing it off with a boosted Max Rockfall to regain the sandstorm bonus.

From what I read in that thread, as far as the game is concerned, the HP boost given by Dynamax doesn't exist and Dynamaxed pokemon are immune to phasing.
I think they have the extremes to just ban Dynamax and saving themselves the times and the headaches

From the datamine theorizing i seen that looked to be the consensus due the "Unique" moves being worse then the Dynamax equivelants, notably for Charizard, who loses a Nuke that sets Sun for what is essentially a fucking Super Firespin that doesn't deal direct damage. There is also the fact that quite a few Gigantamax mons are "weak" by default, like Meowth, Butterfree and Pikachu while EVERYTHING can Dynamax.

That said, maybe people overlooked something.

Some of the G-Max moves are useful like Lapras, Alcremie, and Gengar but most of them do stupid shit like Fire Spin, Spite, and Focus Energy that's actually a downgrade from the normal Max moves. Gigantamax Charizard is straight up worse than regular Dynamax Charizard because it can't fucking set up Sun.

What was even the point of these things?

Ditto doesn't copy the Dynamax form, it turns into the base mon (though it keeps the stat boosts etc0. So they'll have more HP and usually better moves, with the Ditto's Close Combat jumping back to 120BP being the main exception. So I think it'll be a bit more situation-dependent than you make it out to be.

Because Game Freak is bad at balancing their own game. The G-Max moves mostly have worse effects than the D-Max moves. The only G-Max move worth using is Grimmsnarl's.

It's a total upgrade from regular Darm. Its movepool (which is basically the same + Ice coverage) and abilities give it plenty of options like Band, Scarf, SubSalac Zen Mode and Belly Drum Zen Mode. Gorilla Tactics is absolutely crazy on something with 140 atk and its Zen mode is actually good instead of the shit it was on fire Darm.

Also if you feel cute you can even run Specs on it to destroy Rotom-W and Gyarados with Freeze-Dry while still possessing incredible physical power from its ability.

Though the fact that a 30 SpA pokemon even considers running Specs Freeze-Dry is a testament of how overcentralizing those two mons are atm.

Smogon OU has not been this for 10 years, since the introduction of complex bans.

But that doesn't change that their first and foremost job is to ban uncompetitive elements from the game. If play2win were introduced in Pokemon, it would be their duty to ban that if possible.

Complex bans are basically anything more than "ban X Pokemon" or "ban X move". It involves specific rules. Swift Swim + Drizzle was one of them, as were things like "you can only have 1 baton passer". Those kinds of bans are avoided as much as possible because they can cause a slippery slope.

Banded Darm was already the best set before, and it would hit harder on basically any move that's not Earthquake or U-Turn. Dynamax doesn't even get around Gorilla Tactics. Yeah Zen Mode BDrum is a little more exciting, but isn't this thing just worse than normal Darm as a bander? IDK if we even get access to normal Darm pre-Home, but even if we don't, you're still using a bander that's worse than what was an RUBL Pokemon last gen. It's laughable that people think that a mon that wouldn't even scrape UU last gen would be Ubers this gen, even with the dex cuts. We still have obnoxious walls like Pex and no shortage of viable revenge killers to minimize the damage of Zen BDrum to a 1 for 1 trade at absolute most. I don't get what y'all are seeing that I'm not.

Galar Darm is better in almost every way, yeah, STAB Sheer Force Flare Blitz is good but not only Galar gets that as coverage (more than enough to delete what it wants to hit), ice coverage (your stab in this case) is great, U-turn/EQ as you said hit way harder than reg darm and that's what you're clicking most of the time anyway (Pex stops existing and U-turn hurts like a bitch)

The benefit of being able to run Scarf and have the Band power is also pretty amazing.

Totally not going to be ubers but I can see it being a threat in OU

Rock Blast is often used over Stone Edge, a move that is on paper almost always better, by the things that actually learn it. Ex Rhyperior and Dwebble/Crustle. These moves tend to have distribution issues, which is why they're so rarely seen, it has nothing to do with the moves being bad. Even if Kyurem didn't get Dragon Dance, Icicle Spear would be more than enough to push it to Ubers by itself. I can't say the same about Ice Punch. Breaking substitutes and high rolling mons is much more powerful than a weak but consistent STAB. 3-hit is already as strong as using Ice Beam before, which was often used despite his inferior SpA. Every single Kyurem-Black set is going to run Icicle Spear, it is always the correct choice to do so, and that's going to be enough to ensure it stays locked in Ubers. He's a gigantic, bulky attacker that only has one Pokemon that decidedly counters him in the entire game, and even then, Ferrothorn only does it like 75% of the time. And that's without even considering Dragon Dance or Dynamax.
