I just don't get it.

If the games are for toddlers, why is there so much fucking unskippable dialog? Why are the plots about environmentalism and shit a toddler can't really grasp or find interesting?

If the games are for older kids who can actually read and enjoy an RPG properly, how are they supposed to find the experience fun or engaging when there is absolutely no difficulty whatsoever? I can't imagine a kid sitting through this slog, pressing A to one-shot every single enemy in between tedious cutscenes. How are they supposed to get any enjoyment out of winning the league or learning new moves or anything, when the game literally beats itself and heals you at every turn?

It's baffling. The old games, the ones that made this franchise successful and created all those nostalgic shills who defend the series no matter what, were pretty easy. But they still had difficult challenges here and there. Even the easiest Pokemon games on the Game Boy required you to be engaged with the game and pay attention to what you were doing.

The 3DS ones make you turn off your brain out of pure boredom and still let you win despite that. How is a kid supposed to enjoy this garbage or find it memorable in any way? It doesn't require even the smallest amount of thought. It's the equivalent of eating fast food, it has no artistic value whatsoever and kids won't even remember the time spent with it in a few months, because it was just a tedious slog that didn't pose any challenge. A piece of shit they can beat with the brain turned all the way off.
