Were US and UM better than the originals? I hated sun and moon due to the horrible cutscenes and railroading. Is it worth buying? I just need something i haven't played to like pokemon again

I played and beat both. USUM are very boring if you've played the first. And they manage to ruin the story with unnecessary changes and wasted potential. You'll come out feeling more angry.

It's basically the same thing with a slightly different story at the end and a few extras. If you haven't played SM, you might as well go for USUM, but the latter isn't worth it if you already beat the former.

If you didn’t play SM then get it. The ending is a lot more positive and the post game content is /relatively/ enjoyable.

They are better but if you played SM first they will feel like pure same shit.
Play them if you skipped SM. If you played SM, don't even bother with them.

I personally think BW2 has some of the best post game content in the entire franchise so yes I would recommend it over USUM.

There was "more" "content" (a shitty boring marathon battle with other evil teams, shitty wormhole flying to catch other legendaries), but the already only decent but still charming story was absolutely destroyed. It really soured sun moon for me.

The only thing I liked less about it is that it has a worse credit sequence. Otherwise it was a good game beyond making me feel a bit jilted about buying vanilla SM, since 90% of the campaign is the same.

They essentially throw away the climax of the original game, so you're still missing a pretty iconic segment of the generation if you skip S/M.

I genuinely thought the wormhole shit was dumber and more tedious than the Looker post game stuff. The new 'worlds' were just tiny rooms.
